Day 25 – #365feministselfie

Oswald is continuing to improve. He seems to only cough now when he’s anxious. He’s expelling mucous from his stoma which is great. The mucous production will slow down once he’s healed and those tissues become more accustomed to getting colder air. He has regressed in a number of ways with his behaviour. We saw similar things with Stevie after her major eye trauma. We know that patience and perseverance will get Ozzy through this. Like Stevie, he is a resilient dog. I am going to post his picture below mine as it’s a bit graphic. We didn’t go out of our way to get a pic of his stoma it just happened when he feel asleep last night for a bit. All the staples you see are from where they had to resect his extra skin so that it did not occlude the stoma. All those come out next week.

Our road is currently closed which really sucks. It’s been a long time since that happened.

Day 23 – #365feministselfie

Feeling better today. I had my massage yesterday instead of today so today I feel great. I slept well.

Oswald is on the mend. We got his fentanyl patch taken off yesterday. I am pretty sure it had worn off and he was in pain. We had to take him to the vet have it down. He’s now getting his tramadol 3 times a day and he has a mild sedative to help him rest comfortably. It took a while to get his pain back under control yesterday so he could sleep (he’d been awake all night the night before). He finally conked out at 5 am and didn’t move for about 7 hours. He’s breathing well through the tracheostomy. It has to be cleaned a couple of times a day right now but eventually that will settle down to once or twice. The hard part is him figuring out how to lay down without occluding his air hole. So, all is good in Wally land right now.

Day 21 – #365feministselfie

Hey everyone – things are going well for Oswald here. He got home early yesterday evening. He slept ok last night. Continue to think good thoughts in his general direction.

And here’s me again…

Day 19 – #365feministselfie

Well, it’s Day 19 and I am beginning to think you are all going to get tired of seeing pics of me!

Anyone, news from The Swamp – Oswald is in for surgery. He has a horrible breathing issue which is going to result in a permanent tracheostomy. He should feel much better once he can breathe properly. Hold good thoughts for our little guy.

Day 18 = #365feministselfie

Another day and I am still feeling like crap. It takes me a long time to recover from not getting enough sleep. Oh and I hate my lazy eye! Back to work tomorrow – here’s hoping I feel better!
