Rhizome Cafe

I want to say first off that I am not connected to the Rhizome Cafe in any way.

Tonight we had the pleasure of having a fundraising event for work at the Rhizome Cafe. This amazing café is owned by two socially conscious women. They invite non-profits and other community groups to hold events in their space for a nominal charge. The space is friendly and welcoming. It is an ideal place to hold an event because you don’t need to worry about food or drink – instead you can focus on your event and the people who come. It is a win-win situation for all – groups have a place to go and Rhizome has a steady stream of new customers coming to their café.

The food was good. Their values are also expressed in their menu where they offer a ‘pay as you feel’ lentil stew. I talked to one of the owners about this and she said by offering this dish they are able to give a meal to those who would not otherwise be able to afford it a decent meal. It is amazing to see a business conduct themselves according to their values.

What a lovely and refreshing night out. We will be back.
